Dixons Carphone has agreed to take a 375,000 sq ft warehouse at Bolton’s Logistics North site following a sales surge during lockdown which saw topline takings more than double.
On the Yorkshire side of the Pennines, parcels giant Hermes will occupy a 340,000 sq ft unit at Hoyland, Barnsley.
A planning application for the site, which could accommodate another 770,000 sq ft, has been submitted to Barnsley Council by Newlands Developments.
Both deals come as brokers Savills reveal big shed take-up data for the first half of 2020.
Take-up of industrial and logistics space (units of 100,000 sq ft or larger) hit record levels in H1 2020, reaching 22.4 million sq ft, 66% above the long-term average. More than 40% was accounted for by online retailers taking additional floorspace, Savills said.
