Arvato took 220,00 sq ft. A second deal saw what SEGRO describe as a “supply chain management” business signed for 640,00 sq ft at the site close to Junction 24 of the M1 motorway.
Nestle was associated with the plot as far back as 2018. The plan was to work with transport and logistics specialist XPO Logistics to create the distribution centre, using the most up to date digital technology in what was billed as the warehouse of the future.
The officially unnamed occupier has taken a 10-year lease. Construction is scheduled to start in January and complete in Autumn 2022.
There is now just one plot remaining at the 700-are SEGRO Logistics Park East Midlands Gateway capable of taking a 700,000 sq dft unit. All other plots are either operational, under development or committed with occupiers including Kuehne + Nagel, Amazon, ShopDirect, Games Workshop and DHL.
Andrew Pilsworth, Managing Director, National Logistics at SEGRO, said: “We are seeing sustained warehouse demand in the East Midlands logistics market, with ongoing supply chain challenges driving companies to build operational resilience and occupy high-quality space in the best locations”
