The East Midlands Gateway building will be ready for occupation in October 2021.
The unit will be developed to high sustainability standards and it will be a net carbon zero building.
Sustainable features include roof mounted photovoltaic panels, LED lighting and upgraded cladding which improves air-tightness for temperature controlled operations. The development also benefits from a clear height to eaves of 15m.
The development means the East Midlands Gateway site is now filling up fast.
“Including this speculative build, we currently have four units under construction, after which the park will be nearly 75% full. We’ll be working hard over the coming months to secure customers for the spec build and the remaining 1.5 million sq ft of space,” said Andrew Pilsworth, Segro’s Managing Director for National Logistics.
