Email Specs

Firstly some notes on banners.

Many clients like to supply banners as animated gif's - it should be noted that most email clients like Outlook, Yahoo, Gmail etc deliberately stop animations playing and display the first frame only. I therefore recommend that animated gifs contain all relevant information on frame number one.

Banners should be kept as small as possible, this is in fact true of all web adveritsing. We are often given images to use that are way beyone our

468px X 90px (jpeg or gif)
This has been pre sold to Toyota for quite some time though.

Format: jpeg or gif
Filsize: 100 KB

 

Banner between news items

Traditionally these are 468px x 60px though we cann accept a larger height if the client wants. (within reason obviously)
I always suggest a base price for the 468 X 60 and if the client wants something taller than 60px they should pay pro rata.

Panels on the right

These should also be costed according to height as there is the danger that if we do not specify a height they will supply something rediculously tall.

The width is a constant 160px.

I would suggest a 160 X 160 be a good base and the cost could increase (based on the height) from there.

When do advertisers need to send sponsored enews by? What do they need to send?

Enews stories and banners must be sent by Tuesday 10am at the latest to Kirsty, David and John. The following should be sent:

-    250 word news story
-    Picture for story
-    Banner of panel advert

Where do we keep track of enews sponsored stories?

Put sponsored stories and banners in an enews folder on the Tuesday of the relevant week. Create an all-day appointment and call it enews/or add to existing enews appointment.

 

Where will the story be featured?

About 4th down. It will be marked as sponsored.

 

How many people receive enews?

It's just over 19,000 at the moment.

 

What are the open rates?

Roughly 9%

 

What are the click through rates?

It varies but the past four eNews have had: 1.04%, 1.4%, 1.5%, 0.9%
