What’s the most innovative solution which has come out of Wincanton's W2 Partner Network so far? Nick Eades, Chief Marketing Officer at Wincanton, speaks to SHD Logistics editor Kirsty Adams.
The W2 Network announcement marks the next stage of Wincanton’s journey to lead in the Digitised Supply Chain and focuses on a wide range of capability areas; from in-vehicle technology, Direct to Consumer marketplaces and robotics, to Blockchain and drones, says the 3PL. Companies in the W2 Partner Network will span the largest professional services, through to established specialist providers, and start-up businesses.
“By working closely with Virtualstock and Sorted, for example, we have been able to extend our eFulfilment capability to incorporate an advanced Supplier-to-Customer service, and improved carrier management, respectively, " tell Nick Eades, Chief Marketing Officer at Wincanton, to SHD Logistciss editor Kirsty Adams.
“Our approach is different to other 3PLs – we’ve embraced companies such as these instead of building our own proprietary systems, where legacy can often get in the way of agility. Instead, we can now help our Retail customers boost their own customer experience through two things: firstly, provide extended choice for delivery and secondly, create the ability to expand retailers’ portfolios without them having to hold stock. As a consequence, we have a lot of interest and a number of early stage projects about to kick off.”
The programme is an extension to Wincanton’s successful W2 Labs programme, where selected start-ups pitch their products and services to Wincanton, going on to develop their business proposition inside the company’s extensive supply chain network.
