With voting now underway for the Awards for Excellence 2016, the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) has revealed that it received a record number of entries from companies around the world, setting the Nominations Committee its toughest challenge yet.

After much scrutiny, just 15 products and services, from 13 companies, found their place on the shortlist that is the industry’s Pick of the Year – the definitive buyer’s guide to all that’s best in the fork lift truck sector.

According to Peter Harvey, Chief Executive of the FLTA: “The first challenge facing a potential Archie winner is to convince the Nominations Committee that an entry is fit to make the transition from Nominee to Finalist.

“Our committee comprises some the most experienced and astute individuals within the fork lift truck sector. Each member is fiercely independent and brings a deep and practical understanding of engineering and workplace environments to the selection process – which is why our lists of Finalists and winners are always so diverse.

“This year is no exception. We have a fascinating line-up: from driverless forks and remote glove technology to battery monitoring devices and operator-assisted dynamic mast control systems.

“However different, every Finalist in our Pick of the Year shares one thing in common: a commitment to creating something innovative and exceptional that will make a real difference to the lives of those who work with and alongside fork lift trucks.

“Some of this year’s 13 companies are household names, but some are smaller businesses: enterprising young firms destined for success in this very competitive sector.

“Make no mistake, though: whether they are David or Goliath, the winner in the Pick of the Year categories will be determined solely by an open, public vote.”

Anyone whose work involves materials handling equipment is entitled to vote. This includes those who own or hire fork lift trucks, as well as those who manage, supervise or train fork lift operators – and the operators themselves.

Harvey continues: “Since voting takes less than a minute, we’re encouraging everyone who works with and alongside fork lift trucks to play their part by visiting the FLTA website and casting their discerning vote.”
Voting for Awards 2016 is now open and will close on 13th January 2016.
