LB Foster introduces advanced robotics into automated solutions

Leicester-based LB Foster Materials Handling has introduced high performance ABB robots into its advanced automated solutions.

ABB's Robotics business is part of the ABB Group of companies and is a leading supplier of industrial robots and robotic manufacturing systems.

LB Foster specialises in the delivery of bespoke materials handling solutions which offer increased productivity while cutting costs. Commenting on the news, Gary Bale, managing director of LB Foster said: "In today's economic climate, manufacturers and distributors require increasingly sophisticated systems which combine high quality with cost effectiveness.

"There is no doubt that robot based automation produces exceptional commercial benefits and, in the medium to long term, offers a good return on investment."

He continued: "We have already successfully integrated robots into various innovative conveying solutions, with the latest being two 7-axis ABB robots designed and installed at Diageo's cooperage in Cambus, Clackmannanshire.

"With the integration of ABB Robots we can ensure that our customers will benefit from receiving the most effective solution to suit their particular materials handling requirements.

"Our engineers are currently undergoing technical training by ABB staff on their wide range of robot products at the company's UK office located in Milton Keynes," concluded Gary.
