Guests at the recent UKWA Annual Lunch and Awards for Warehousing Ceremony raised nearly £4,000 for international development charity Transaid.
Amethyst Group made the largest donation on the day – bidding £1,000 for the chance for one of its staff to drive ‘the biggest crane in the world’ at DP World’s London Gateway site.
Transaid’s CEO Gary Forster thanked the assembled company and explained how over 6,000 professional drivers had now been trained in Africa by Transaid. In addition, he said, the implementation of more efficient supply chain management systems had seen the amount of wasted essential medicines and supplies drop from a level of 78% to just 20%.
Over 400 UKWA members and their guests attended the event which was held at London’s Dorchester Hotel.
