Two Nottinghamshire warehouse schemes have been given the green light as demand for East Midlands logistics floorspace remains strong.
A 117,000 sq ft warehouse development – and 31 acres of open storage – have been approved for the former Welbeck colliery site, near Bassetlaw. The colliery closed in May 2010.
The 71 acre site, between Workshop and Mansfield, has access to the A60 and A616 and will also see office and residential development. A planning application from Harworth Estates was approved by Bassetlaw councillors late last week.
In a separate application, Howard (Retford) has won permission for a 197-acre greenfield site at Sunny Nook Farm, a site close to Harworth colliery. It applied for planning permission to develop a 2.5m sq ft mixed warehouse and office scheme at nearby Harworth colliery on land south of Snape Lane.
The site will also see a public house and hotel. Work will begin on the site in 2017. Harworth colliery itself was granted permission for a 996 unit housing scheme and around 780,000 sq ft of office and warehouse space in 2009.
