The 21-acre Abdereen warehouse site once owned by oil giant Total is to be sold.
The site at Aberdeen’s Altens industrial estate was part of a sale-and-lease back deal in 2014 as Total prepared to move to new premises in the city.
Altens is one of Aberdeen’s most favoured industrial locations and a centre for the North Sea oil business since the 1970s. The area, two miles south of Aberdeen city centre, has links to the A90.
Occupiers include Swire, Weatherford, Oil States and National Oilwell Varco.
The move comes as Scotland’s logistics sector prepares for one of its largest ever developments. Lidl has exchanged contracts on a 50-acre site at Eurocentral for a new 624,000 sq ft Scottish distribution centre.
It has now been disclosed that the retailer has taken a further 122,000 sq ft at Eurocentral in an off-market deal brokered by Colliers international. The floorspace will bridge the gap until the new regional distribution centre is completed.
Adrienne Howells, head of warehouse expansion at Lidl, said: “The new premises will be used alongside our existing warehouses in Livingston, until our new Scottish Distribution Centre is complete.”
