A 152-acre site close to the Port of Tilbury is being offered to logistics developers.
The site, next to the former Tilbury Power Station, is being offered for sale by JLL’s Industrial and Logistics on behalf of RWE.
The site has a potential rail head and comes with the existing deep water jetty structure on the river Thames. Demolition of the site will take three years and finish at the end of 2018.
A shortlist of potential buyers will be agreed in October with sale expected to be completed before the end of the year.
JLL will not comment on the scale of proposed development, but a figure close to 1m sq ft is thought probable, say industry sources.
There have already been expressions of interest from buyers interested in the deep water access. Manufacturers, power generators and open storage operators are understood to be competing with developers for the site.
However, road access may need to be improved for large-scale logistics development.
