Swindon’s first speculative warehouse unit for a decade will be completed in January.
Developer DB Symmetry says Readie Construction has been appointed to deliver the 217,000 sq ft unit, which is the first in the town for ten years, and the first phase of the 96-acre Symmetry Park site. Located next to the A420 dual carriageway, just south of Honda and four miles north of the M4, the Park currently has outline planning consent for 1.3 million sq ft of B8 use space.
Christian Matthews, Director at db symmetry said: “Starting on site shows our commitment to our speculative build programme in Swindon and across the UK. There is a chronic shortage of logistics space available in the market, a fact which has been underlined by the high level of interest we have received from major occupiers which are looking for up and ready new building solutions in strategic locations, of which there are few.”
Rob Cleeves of letting agents Savills added: “It has been over 10 years since the last speculative warehouse development in Swindon and we very much look forward to be offering occupiers a building of the size, quality and height that we are delivering at Symmetry Park.”
