A 154,500 sq ft speculative industrial and warehouse scheme has been unveiled in Stockport – and the local council is putting up the money.
Stockport Council is to develop a site close to junction 1 of the M60 orbital motorway rebranding it as Aurora Stockport. They say they have been prompted by the crisis in supply of new floorspace.
The site at Gorsey Bank, Cheadle Heath, will see units up to 47,000 sq ft.
A council statement says: “Stockport continues to enjoy high demand for quality industrial units due to the town’s exceptional connectivity and workforce. This popularity has seen other local developments quickly become fully let, and it is on the back of this success that the Council has chosen to proceed with the development.
A planning application for the new estate has been submitted and it is hoped construction will start in Spring 2016 with the first units being available from early 2017.
Carillion and CBRE are advising on the development, with CBRE appointed as agents for the scheme.
