A team from SEC Storage will be aiming to raise £5,000 for Transaid, by taking on the London to Paris Cycle Challenge in September.
Gary Kirk (project sales director), Steve Watts (managing director) and Dean Kahl (marketing manager) will be departing from London on Friday 22nd September with 60 riders from the logistics and materials handling industry. The challenge finishes at the iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris on Sunday 24th.
Over just 3 days, the challenging route will cover 240 miles taking in the rolling English countryside and panorama of northern France, all with the aim of raising much needed funds for Transaid.
“In the UK we take for granted the role the logistics industry plays in our lives, from delivering goods to emergency healthcare. Having recently sponsored a Bicycle Ambulance which will be used in sub-Saharan Africa we were compelled to continue our fundraising for Transaid” commented Dean Kahl, marketing manager.
“The London to Paris Cycle Challenge will be a real test for us at SEC Storage! I am a mountain biker and so far the limited experience on a road bike tells me this isn’t going to be easy. Steve and Gary have never done any cycling, so covering 240 miles in 3 days will be quite the challenge!”
SEC Storage aims to raise £5,000 which will help Transaid to deliver vital professional driver training and access to healthcare in rural sub-Saharan Africa.
Florence Bearman, head of fundraising at Transaid who will also be joining the ride commented “We are delighted that the SEC Storage team are joining us for the London to Paris challenge this year.
“This is the biggest European ride we’ve ever organised, and we couldn’t do the work that we do without the incredible support of the transport and logistics industry. I look forward to cycling with Steve, Gary and Dean in just a few months’ time”.
