Royal Mail to take a 346,153 sq ft DC at Warrington’s Omega logistics park.

The deal with developer Mountpark Logistics sees the parcel hub take one of four units that form a 757,000 sq ft speculative development on the Omega site.

Construction work on the Royal Mail building will be completed in October.

“We decided to build speculatively at Mountpark Warrington Omega because the site’s accessibility and connectivity make it one of the best logistics locations in the North West.” said Tom Kilmister, Development Director, Mountpark UK and Ireland.  “We are delighted that this new building suits Royal Mail’s requirements.  We are working closely with the team during the final stages of construction and we look forward to welcoming them as our first occupiers on the scheme.”

Mountpark Warrington Omega is part of the Omega mixed-use development at Junction 8 of the M62, midway between Liverpool and Manchester.  Existing Omega occupiers include: The Hut Group, ASDA, Amazon and Hermes Parcelnet.

Simon Barker, UK Process Operations Director Royal Mail said: “The North West is a key area for our UK parcels operation. The new site will enable us to meet the growing demand for next day delivery of online shopping. We want to be in the best position to respond to the anticipated continued growth in the UK parcels, and to continue to improve working conditions for our people.”

Omega Warrington Ltd and Homes England are the development partners at Mountpark Warrington Omega. CBRE and JLL are the letting agents.
