The 2 million sq ft redevelopment of surplus land at Rolls-Royce’s Anstry engine plant, Coventry, has begun with a 440,00 sq ft letting to engineering firm Meggit.
Meggit has signed up to take a £130 million unit in a pre-let with joint developers Manse and Opus Land.
The Meggit unit has now secured planning permission. Construction of the new unit will be complete by October 2019.
Rolls-Royce announced in November 2017 that Opus and Manse would redevelop the surplus land at Ansty. The Meggit deal - said to be one of the largest manufacturing deals in the West Midlands of recent years - begins the process.
Ansty Park, close to junction 2 of the M6 motorway, is already a major manufacturing location. It is anchored by the Manufacturing Technology Centre a £40.5M government-backed high technology manufacturing hub with members including Airbus, GKN Aerospace, and Hewlett-Packard.
