Prologis and Wittington Investments are to develop a 213,482 sq ft warehouse at their Fradley site, Lichfield, and will include a solar power-generating roof.
The new facility will be built next to the 562,000 sq ft Screwfix unit, which is currently under construction.
Construction work on the speculative building, which will include a rooftop solar installation that will generate 10% of the building’s regulated energy, is expected to be completed in early 2018.
Prologis Park Fradley is next to the A38 north of Lichfield and close to the M42, M6, M6 Toll and M1 motorways.
“There is strong demand for modern distribution facilities in the West Midlands,” said Prologis UK managing director Andrew Griffiths. “Our customers rely on us to provide modern, high-quality facilities in prime locations, so we agreed with Wittington that this new building at Prologis Park Fradley should be the next step in our speculative development programme.”
