Prologis celebrates trio of lettings at Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead

Prologis UK is celebrating a trio of leases at Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead with the announcement that Nile Trading,  one of the leading importers, stockists and distributors of natural stone and quartz in the UK, will take an 11,402 square foot building on the Park.

Nile Trading will move from Cheshunt to join Riwal UK and leading consumer delivery company, Hermes, as the third occupier on the Park. The company has signed a ten-year lease on one of the four terraced warehousing units available on Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead. The Park , which offers buildings from 8,700 sq.ft to 171,000 sq.ft, is designed to appeal to a range of businesses from local companies looking to expand, through to national logistics companies looking for a location which allows them to easily serve the London and South East markets.

Neel Shah, Director of Nile Trading, said: “This new, modern building gives us the extra space we need and the strategic location of Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead, close to the M25 at the base of the M1 corridor, will help us deliver a fast, responsive service to our existing customers across London and the South East/West, in addition to targeting a new market in the North.”

Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead, which is at Maylands Gateway, sits within the town’s new Enviro-tech Enterprise Zone.  When complete, the park will provide up to 540,000 square feet of industrial and distribution space, together with a £2.5 million investment in local highway infrastructure. Prologis will also create a network of safe pedestrian and cycle routes around the site and along Buncefield Lane, as well as a new ‘pocket park’, which the company will maintain for people who live and work locally.

Working with the environmental charity Cool Earth, Prologis will mitigate 100% of the carbon involved in the construction of the buildings on Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead by protecting 421 acres of rainforest in Papua New Guinea. This area of rainforest  is part of the Queen’s Commonwealth Canopy; a unique network of forest conservation initiatives which involves all 53 countries of the Commonwealth.

In addition to protecting areas of the rainforest for future generations, every building on Prologis Park Hemel Hempstead will also have its whole-life carbon impact officially certified by The Planet MarkTM  as Simon Cox, UK Sustainability Officer for Prologis explains:

 “We feel passionately that, as a property company, we should play our part in reducing average lifetime carbon in our buildings to bring the benefits of sustainability to our customers, the local community and beyond. This legacy of sustainable development is something we gift to every owner or occupier of a Prologis building in the UK, allowing them to start their own sustainability journey.

“Our sustainability programme also funds education officers from the Eden Project to go into local schools close to our developments and talk to the children about sustainability and how they can play their part in protecting the planet. To date, we’ve delivered this programme to children at Hobletts Manor Junior School and Nash Mills School in Hemel Hempstead and a number of other schools will be taking part in this initiative over the coming months.”
