Pets at Home, the UK’s leading pet business, and HIAB, a leading provider of on-road load handling equipment, are delighted to be recognised in the Noise Abatement Society 2017 John Connell Awards for their work to reduce environmental noise from delivery vehicles through their quiet delivery partnership.
Pets at Home and HIAB were presented with the John Connell Quiet Logistics Award 2017 by Jo Webb, President of the Institute of Acoustics in a ceremony held at the House of Commons in London. The award was kindly sponsored by the Freight Transport Association.
Pets at Home has 447 stores across the UK which receive deliveries in the evening and at night. Recognising concerns from residents living nearby about the noise from diesel-powered fork lift trucks, Pets at Home needed a solution for its efficient out of hours deliveries and found its answer in HIAB’s first all-electric truck-mounted fork lift, with a capacity of 2,000 Kgs.
Steve Travis, Transport General Manager at Pets at Home said: “We are delighted to share this award with HIAB and have our partnership recognised for its investment in technology that reduces environmental noise significantly without any impact on the service levels we provide to our stores.”
