Peel Logistics are pressing ahead with a 179,000 sq ft first phase at their new 48-acre Sheffield development site.
Peel are expected to develop two speculative units of 50,000 sq ft and 120,000 sq ft, with work on site due to begin next spring. The planning application is likely to go before Sheffield planners in February. Units will be 12 metres to eaves and 13.8 metres to eaves.
Peel acquired the 48-acre Outokumpu Group site at Sheffield in March, paying close to £9m. The site, close to Junction 34 of the M1 motorway and a stones through from Sheffield city centre and local retail offerings including Meadowhall Shopping Centre, the site is rated by local agents as among the best in South Yorkshire.
The total development is expected to be 800,000 sq ft.
A report prepared by Knight Frank said: “The masterplan will deliver a high quality and modern flagship industrial and logistics hub with a prominent location along the M1, to be branded as Peel Logistics Park, Sheffield. It is envisaged that the site will be fully operational by November 2019, with development commencing on Phase one in early 2018.”
