Integrated cold store and logistics provider Partner Logistics has signed a two-year contract with global bakery supplier Dawn Foods to manage storage for its range of frozen confectionary products at its super-sized frozen food warehouse in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire.
Partner Logistics, which has worked with Dawn Foods at its Bergen op Zoom site in the Netherlands since 2004, will be partnering with transport provider Visbeen to provide distribution of Dawn Foods products to its UK customers, which include well-known quick service restaurants, coffee shops and travel catering companies.
Dawn Foods, established in 1920 and with manufacturing and production facilities in eight countries across Europe, will be storing an average of 2,000 pallets of its products, which include frozen muffins, donuts and cookies, at the Wisbech warehouse with a delivery of 500 pallets every week.
Helco Sala, director supply chain Europe at Dawn Foods, said: “We are very pleased to begin working with Partner Logistics in the UK. We have always been impressed with their professionalism and high performance levels in Bergen op Zoom, and the Wisbech site is a good central location for the storage of our products that are produced both in the UK and in mainland Europe.”
Eelco Schnabel, commercial director at Partner Logistics, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Dawn Foods to our Wisbech site. We have forged a successful partnership in mainland Europe and look forward to ensuring that they have the best possible supply chain operation in the UK.”
Partner Logistics operates six deep-freeze facilities – two in the UK, three in the Netherlands and one in Belgium. Its Wisbech warehouse operates at -24°C and is the UK’s largest cold store, covering an area the size of two football pitches with a capacity of 77,000 pallets.
