Europe’s largest and fastest-growing express palletised freight network has strengthened its UK team by appointing Dave Walmsley as Member and Network Development Director.
Walmsley joins Palletways from Lyreco, a worldwide distributor of workplace products, and will be responsible for ensuring the continuous development and growth of the Palletways UK network and its 106 members.
Before joining Palletways, Walmsley was Lyreco’s Group Commercial Director and had been with the company for 25 years. In his previous role, he was responsible for overseeing commercial operations across 28 countries in Europe and Asia and leading a team of over 4,000 sales people and call centre employees.
“Palletways has got a great reputation in the UK and across Europe and the business is doing extremely well,” said Walmsley.
“I look forward to working with the team here at Fradley and all the members across the country and I am excited to join a business with a clear vision and desire for growth.”
This appointment follows a strong year for Palletways’ UK and European operations as the Group unveils the creation of a new central hub in Lichfield which is already fully operational and will increase capacity by 8,000 pallets per day.
Luis Zubialde, Managing Director at Palletways UK Ltd, said: “The UK market is recovering at a tremendous speed and it is essential for us to be ahead of the curve, to deliver the best service possible for our customers in every corner of the country, from the Isle of Wight through to Aberdeen. It is great to have someone of Dave’s calibre join our team. With his depth of experience, he will bolster our domestic services and reinforce our position as the key player in the industry.”
Palletways delivers to 20 European destinations, which is more than any other pallet distributor, and the network consists of 400 depots across Europe of which more than 100 are in the UK.
