Ocado, the online grocery business, is understood to be searching for a replacement for the 784,000 sq ft Andover warehouse badly damaged in a blaze earlier this week.
The full-automated plant has a floor area of 240,000 sq ft, but mezzanine floors add to the capacity.
Finding a location able to serve the region will be difficult, with the supply of larger units strictly constrained in the immediate Hampshire/Wiltshire neighbourhood.
Further afield units such as Gazeley’s 1 million sq ft Unit G at Magna Park, Lutterworth, might be suitable but Ocado would have to compete with other potential tenants. US homewares giant Wayfair has been linked with the Gazeley unit.
