As retailers enter arguably their busiest period in the run up to Christmas, Nisa has announced strong availability levels of 98.2% with delivery on time running at 96%.
The robust distribution figures follow strong Christmas pre-sales for Nisa with volume growth up 5.6% like-for-like on a year ago. Christmas ambient pre-sell sales increased by 6.5% on last year, with sales of tinned biscuits and selected confectionery products driving the gains.
“We’re delighted to have consistently achieved sector leading distribution levels and view this as a key strength of Nisa membership,” said Jon Stowe, Nisa’s supply chain director. “We have continued focus on our supply chain as our priority has and always will be the independent retailer. We’ve worked hard to deliver solutions which improve the experience for our members.”
A recent member survey showed satisfaction was at record levels, with 94 per cent of its members happy with levels of availability and 78 per cent happy that deliveries are on time. The survey also found that 89 per cent of members are happy with service levels.
Nisa’s focus on its supply chain operations was recently demonstrated as the company won Supply Chain Solution of the Year at the Retail Systems Awards 2014, for developing a highly interactive yet simple visual tool to optimise the layout and product sequencing within the warehouse, mimimise the travel distance between goods inwards and storage and manage the location and size of pickface in line with actual volume. It also collected the European Supply Chain award for Training & Professional Development
Jon added, “To win two awards at very high profile supply chain awards is a testament to the hard work and attention to detail Nisa puts into its wider supply chain operations. They are brilliant examples of innovation, reinforcing our robust and best in class delivery service for independent retailers.”
