NHS Supply Chain is delighted to announce that Supply Chain Coordination Limited (SCCL), the management function of the new NHS Supply Chain, and James (Jim) Spittle, Chair of SCCL, have appointed Rob Houghton as non-executive Director for Technology and Innovation. His appointment brings the SCCL Board to its full complement.
Rob, who commences his appointment on 1 May 2019, for a three year term, brings with him a wealth of experience from over 20 years working in IT and change management in telecoms and financial services within major blue-chip corporations across the Middle East, US and Europe. He has seven years’ experience at Board level and an established track record of success in leading major transformational change.
Most recently Rob took on the role of Group Chief Information Officer and Business Change Director for the Post Office. This involved a strategic assessment of a programme to replace technology across the entire estate - a transformation of the largest retail network in Europe. Rob also reviewed the security and audit processes, establishing a robust operating model and implementation team.
Jim Spittle, Chair of SCCL, commented, “Rob is a critical thinker who has delivered outstanding business performance and results. His motivational leadership style supports an environment based on honesty, trust and professional integrity, which is extremely important to NHS Supply Chain.”
Rob holds a BSc (Hons) in Information Technology. Previous roles have included Software Development for BT, senior management positions with CSC in the UK, Middle East and Africa and Aviva in the UK and US. He is also a regular speaker at technology and cyber security events around the world.
