A further 1m sq ft of large speculative warehouses are to be built in the North West, say property experts.
Surveyors Bilfinger GVA are predicting another 1m sq ft of development to add to the 2.5m sq ft already under construction in the region.
Sources say a number of pre-let deals are already likely ahead of completion of the latest wave of 14 new big sheds. Mountpark’s 270,000 sq ft unit (pictured) at Airport City is among those tipped to let before its January 2016 completion date.
Andrew Pexton, director at Bilfinger GVA in Manchester, said: “A single deal could take out 10% of the supply.”
Design-and-build take-up so far this year is over 1.65m sq ft, says Bilfinger GVA .This has reflected the lack of built stock in the region.
