Menzies Distribution expands offering in Scotland to rapidly deliver parts for forestry machines located in rural areas.
Komatsu Forest provides industrial machinery to companies across the world but has a particularly strong presence in Scotland, where there is a thriving forestry industry. Many of these machines are based at sites in remote and hard to reach areas of the country. Menzies Distribution has been appointed because it specialises in delivering to hard to reach areas.
Menzies Distribution has eight depots and hubs in Scotland which enable the delivery of parts for machines within 24 hours, where previously it has taken longer. This is crucial for contractors who are paid by the hour and whose business is seriously impacted by a delay in working machinery.
Menzies Distribution’s time-critical deliveries will soon be enhanced by its offering to provide Komatsu Forest with a storage facility at its Inverness site. This will enable individuals to come and collect the parts as soon as they are required, or for them to be delivered to the nearest newstrade retailer to suit the client. At present, the nearest warehouse is in Longtown, Carlisle.
Adam Smith, Commercial & Marketing Director, Menzies Distribution said, “We are pleased to announce that we are working with international firm Komatsu Forest, which has customers based in some of the most remote areas of Scotland. The firm chose Menzies Distribution for our ability to make time-critical delivery to hard to reach areas. Menzies Distribution can provide Komatsu Forest with 24-hour delivery of crucial parts to its customers, which has not been done before in Scotland.
“This new contract highlights our position and offering in the market and showcases how we can work to accommodate our customers’ needs with maximum efficiency.”
Per Annemalm, Managing Director, Komatsu Forest Ltd, said, “We are pleased to be working with Menzies Distribution which has accelerated the speed of our customer services significantly. Through Menzies Distribution we are now able to offer 24-hour delivery, reducing the time that our customers need to wait and meaning we are more efficient in our UK operations. The additional storage facility in Inverness means that we can also reduce the time from order to delivery for our customers.”
