Defence supplier MBDA is to take 100,000 sq ft at Harworth Estates’s 250-acre Logistics North site, Bolton.
Harworth confirmed this morning that MBDA would occupy an eight acre site. The Logistics North scheme has already secured a 600,000 sq ft to discounter Aldi, and will eventually total 4m sq ft.
The new facility will combine high-quality manufacturing space with offices, from its current base at Lostock, Bolton.
Phil Wilson, Executive Director of Harworth Estates, said: “The deals with MBDA and Aldi reflect the strength of demand for high-quality industrial space in the north west.
The deal comes as surveyors Lambert Smith Hampton report that manufacturers are increasingly competing with logistics for scarce warehouse floorspace.
Manufacturers re-shoring their overseas operations to the English regions face a fight for an ever-decreasing pool of available industrial and logistics accommodation, athey say.
The problem is particularly acute in the North West and West Midlands.
Harworth’s agents at Logistics North are Jones Lang LaSalle and DTZ, which also acted as planning consultant.
