The Logistics Awards 2019 will be held at the Vox, Resort’s World Birmingham on Thursday 26th September. Following a rigorous judging process, 76 entries were shortlisted. Winners will be announced at the gala dinner taking place during the International Materials Handling Exhibition (IMHX) in Birmingham.
In the first in a two-part guide, a snapshot of some of the main entries to look out for:
NEW FACILITY (UNDER 150,000SQ FT)
The Co-op's Dalcross Distribution Centre is a 12,000sq ft bespoke development that aims to support the retailer's store expansion in Scotland. The Dalcross site will continue to be serviced by double decker vehicles, resulting in fewer journeys reducing Co2 emissions and eliminating 1,800 road miles per day.
DP World London Gateway
DP World London Gateway is the UK's most integrated logistics facility, a state-of-the-art deep-sea port located next to one of Europe's largest sites for the development of ancillary logistics services, including distribution centres and warehouses.
The semi-automated port terminal currently comprises three deep-water berths, all capable of handling the world's largest container ships, and the UK's longest rail terminal; capable of connecting the UK to national and international rail hubs.

Market leader for online pet care, Pets at Home increases throughput by 300% with picking and packing automation, including the mechanisation of an order process for licensed medications on a subscription service-a solution unique to the business and the first type of automated solution in the veterinary licensed meds and pet pharma industries.
Clipper Logistics with Sheffield Hallam University, Derby University and Superdry

The partnership became a fruitful one - seeing an increase in job opportunities throughout the operation in addition to improvements in process efficiency and flexibility.
OPERATIONS SME (UNDER 500 EMPLOYEES)
McCulla is a leading temperature-controlled storage and distribution company, serving the UK, Ireland and the rest of continental Europe. This second-generation family business celebrates its 50th anniversary this year and has grown to a turnover of £24m. The company has successfully married technology with a personalised service.
