We asked Logistics 100 member Nicholas Hale, managing director ventures at BT Group, about 'future ready' logistics.
Kirsty Adams: BT has to be ‘future ready’ for its customers. How does the logistics behind it keep pace?
Nicholas Hale: Our customers are at the heart of our drive to rethink what the supply chain can deliver. We take an end-to-end view, seeking to turn operational challenges into competitive edge. By using technology to integrate services that underpin the engineering workforce within BT and our external customers we are able to improve efficiency, employee engagement and customer service. Recent acquisitions such as Pelipod, the smart connected parcel delivery solution business, allow us to match innovation and creativity with the security and opportunities presented by being part of a major company like BT.
Nicholas leads Ventures, a portfolio of growth businesses within BT, that are delivering new sources of profitable revenue growth. Businesses within the portfolio include supply chain, fleet, cables, field engineering, IOT / M2M solutions, intelligent messaging and data analytics. Having defined the portfolio strategy, Nicholas and his team recently completed the acquisition of Pelipod, a smart connected parcel company that is provides differentiated solutions within the supply chain marketplace.
