SHD Logistics has released a definitive list of the most influential logisticians in the UK. The Logistics 100, compiled by an independent judging panel, is measured on a variety of criteria, centred by operational strength. The key considerations also include influence, driving change, engagement, rising star potential and outside influencers, the latter two with which SHD has compiled separate lists for.
Members of the 2019 Logistics 100 give their thoughts on the most pressing issues within their sectors. This week, we hear from Europa Worldwide logistics director Maria Torrent-March.
From Barcelona, Maria joined Europa 13 years ago, climbing the ranks and was promoted to Director in 2016. She oversees the award-winning Warehouse division operating 42,000sq m dedicated facilities in Birmingham, Dartford and Northampton, with 170 staff - customers include market-leading brands.
SHD: When Majestic Wine bought Naked Wines you were tasked with combining the online fulfilment operations for both retailers. What was the main challenge to overcome?
Maria: Our objective was to integrate the Majestic e-commerce business into our award-winning fulfillment operation.
The main challenge was to maintain our focus on maximizing the operational synergies brought to us by our picking methodology and adjusting our processes to cater for each company’s individual intricacies and requirements while always ensuring our delivery of the Naked Wines and Majestic Wine’s customer promise.
SHD: How are you driving change at Europa Worldwide Group?
Maria: We are continuously looking at the latest innovations and how they can benefit our operation. We work very closely with our customers to understand their current requirements and their future goals to design an operation that is fit for purpose for their current needs and is also future proof.
