SHD Logistics has released a definitive list of the most influential logisticians in the UK. The Logistics 100, compiled by an independent judging panel, is measured on a variety of criteria, centred by operational strength. The key considerations also include influence, driving change, engagement, rising star potential and outside influencers, the latter two with which SHD has compiled separate lists for.
Members of the 2019 Logistics 100 give their thoughts on the most pressing issues within their sectors. This week we hear from Ocado Technology's General Manager OSP Warehouse Automation Alex Harvey.
General Manager OSP Warehouse Automation
Alex is a General Manager for Warehouse Automation at Ocado Technology, overseeing the research, development and support of the pioneering software and systems that power the Ocado Smart Platform.
SHD: How are you driving change at Ocado?
Alex: Innovation is at Ocado’s core and change here is rapid. We’re developing ever more productive systems for our international partners, but delivery must also be high quality and timely.
Our strategies include: building flexible, adaptable teams; working with EU-funded projects to complement our own innovation; and embedding ML into all aspects of the development engine.
SHD: How is Ocado changing the shape of retail across the globe?
Alex: The Ocado Smart Platform is our end-to-end solution to put retailers around the world online scalably, sustainably and profitably. It includes everything from award-winning native apps to our highly automated warehouses – the largest and most evolved of their kind in the world. Our partners include Bon Preu, Groupe Casino, ICA, Morrisons, Kroger, and Sobeys.
