Jungheinrich completes AGV range with new electric order picker

Jungheinrich completes AGV range with new electric order picker

As part of its trade press conference "Innovation and Highlights 2018" in Hamburg last week, Jungheinrich presented its new automated EKX 516a electric order picker. The truck is based on the proven EKX 516a tri-lateral stacker with a capacity of 1600 kg, to which Jungheinrich has added automation components. The EKX 516a is the newest member of Jungheinrich's family of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV). It rounds out the portfolio as an automated solution for warehouse tasks with lift heights up to 13 metres. Using a proven wire guidance system in combination with transponders, the truck is able to position itself precisely at the storage space and can also change aisles. All processes run automatically.

Equipped with an 80-volt synchronous reluctance motor, the EKX 516a opens up new performance dimensions while reducing energy consumption by up to 10%. One feature contributing to this is the patented regenerative lowering and braking for maximum energy recovery. The automated high rack stacker, with an on-board charger integrated and fitted with a busbar and current collector, is also ideally equipped for 24/7 operation.

Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, Jungheinrich member of the Jungheinrich Board of Management responsible for logistics systems, explains: "With the EKX 516a automated high rack stacker we have made one of our top trucks even better. Through the addition of new automation components, the EKX – tried and tested in countless applications – becomes a powerful AGV. With automation the trucks can show their strengths to full extent in narrow aisles: That saves our customers time, especially in standardised routine tasks, and guarantees efficient and reliable transport tasks."

AGV from Jungheinrich
Jungheinrich automates exclusively standard trucks from internal line production. The advantage of this approach is that the trucks are tried and tested, have undergone constant advanced development, and have already been proven in practical applications. Jungheinrich adds automation technology and specific sensor systems to these standard trucks. The range of Jungheinrich Automated Guided Vehicles includes various trucks with a capacity up to 1.5 t and a lift height up to 13.0 m as well as tow trains with tractive power up to 5.0 t. Jungheinrich can thus respond to a wide range of requirements from its customers.
