John Lewis has taken possession of its new 50,500 sq ft Leeds online delivery centre.
The move comes as the unreported sale of a 380,000 sq ft BHS warehouse reveals the role of valuable logisitics property in retail profitability.
Muse Developments has officially handed over the keys to John Lewis for its new £6.2 million customer delivery hub at Logic Leeds.
John Lewis has signed a 20-year-lease on the site close to junction 45 of the M1 motorway.
The move came as it emerged that the former BHS owner sold its 380,000 sq ft warehouse at Atherstone, near Nuneaton, Warwickshire, for £15m in August 2015.
BHS had owned the warehouse for more than 20 years. The Guardian reports that the proceeds of the sale were in part to pay inter-company loans.
The troubled retailer entered administration last month. Administrator Duff & Phelps is now considering bids for the business.
