Jaguar Land Rover is to expand its research and development operation with a 30-acre development near Whitley amidst rumours it is to take another 1.6m sq ft of Midlands logistics and development floorspace.
JLR has confirmed that it will expand at Whitley. The remainder of the 60-acre Whitley site, close to the A45, will be available for a JLR supplier.
However, market sources say JLR has also been considering the controversial Coventry Gateway site.
Last November developer Ostrava Properties, a part of the Rigby Group, applied for permission to develop a 650,000 sq ft warehouse scheme. The development is on the site of Coventry Airport, close to the A46.
Market speculation also suggests JLR are considering a further 1m sq ft growth plan at Silverstone.
