Interroll renews partnership with Alfa Romeo Sauber F1

Conveyor systems experts Interroll has announced that it has agreed a two-year contract extension to provide products and systems components to the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team’s base in Zurich, Switzerland.

The company made its announcement during a pre-launch event of a new conveyor systems product to be showcased in February at Logimat which it said will represent a significant “milestone” for the company. The contract extension with Sauber is a lucrative move for Interroll, although it is yet to confirm whether Sauber will install its new product.

“Formula One is all about logistics and about constant development. We have been partnered with the team since 2012 so we are proud to continue our relationship with them,” Interroll senior vice president Corporate Marketing and Culture Jens Karolyi tells SHD Logistics.

“We – and with us our customers - value the focus on quality, efficiency and innovation at Sauber. The exchange as well as joint events inspire us and our customers over and over again. Beyond sports, Sauber once again sets new standards in engineering."

Meanwhile, Interroll is currently developing a new 15,000sq m factory in Karlsruhe, Germany. The company is investing a total of around €40m as part of a phased development, with completion of the factory planned by the end of 2020.

In addition to the success of the Modular Conveyor Platform, Interroll will launch innovative products and solutions for conveyors and sorters in the first quarter of 2019.

"Interroll is taking into account the high growth momentum for conveyors and sorters by choosing to develop a second, significantly bigger factory in Kronau. In this way, we are securing fast delivery times for our customers and end users well into the future," said Executive Vice President Products and Technology Jens Strüwing. “Effective emergency measures have been introduced at the Sinsheim site in order to increase production capacities; these measures will remain in place until the new factory opens in Kronau.”
