IMHX 2019 Centre Stage: Kanwal Kanda, HSE

IMHX 2019 Centre Stage: Kanwal Kanda, HSE

Health & Safety Executive (HSE) head of transportation Kanwal Kanda will discuss optimising warehouse health & safety performance at next month’s IMHX.

Kanda’s session, achieving transport safety in the workplace, will discuss about how moving vehicles and the operation of fork lift trucks can present significant risk to individuals if not properly managed. Warehouse operatives, others in the workplace and on our road network can all be affected if simple, achievable and workable safety solutions are not implemented and maintained.

Despite the law being clear about what is required and the availability of wide ranging guidance there are still far too many incidents occurring which lead to serious personal injury or death.  Through revisiting the law, guidance and using case study, Kanda will seek to divulge how you can improve your systems and more importantly protect people.

Kanda will be on the Centre Stage - IMHX's main theatre -  during the four-day event on September 24-27, NEC Birmingham.

As one of HM Principal Inspectors of Health and Safety, Kanda has over 17 years’ regulatory experience with the Health and Safety Executive across numerous industry sectors. In that time he has conducted, prosecuted and managed investigations following multiple workplace fatalities, injuries and cases of ill health. Included are numerous incidents in a warehouse setting and with a workplace transport related element. His current role as HSE’s head of transport sector involves devising national transport policy aimed at addressing the worse than average record for health and safety performance in the transport and logistics sector.

Kanda will speak alongside a high-profile line up of speakers including Alex Harvey of Ocado, Coca-Cola’s Clare Bottle, Nestle supply chain director David Hix, and Jack Wills distribution centre manager Steve Hawthorn.

The main speaker theatre is free to attend on the Tuesday 24th, Thursday 26th and Friday 27th. To book your free place, please click here.
