Igloo Thermo Logistics (Igloo) is planning a third depot and expanding its vehicle fleet by over 30%.
This independent Company, started by CEO Alistair Turner in 2004, is a niche player handling food manufacturers’ delivery of samples and full loads, regular multi-drops of perishables such as sandwiches to airports and hospitals meals plus emergency deliveries of one pack up to 16 pallets. The £4mn specialist frozen, chilled and ambient food distribution company; is also celebrating its tenth anniversary with a new customer friendly IT systems.
Igloo, who launched with the slogan ‘simply delivered’, has simplicity incorporated throughout its businesses philosophy. The website is simple as are its UK distribution charges - a basic postcode to postcode price list.
Alistair Turner CEO said: “Life today is too complicated. Clients want simple tailored distribution solutions, they like smaller suppliers where they can get personal attention and fast action 24/7. It’s the comfort factor they seek not the promise of a call back that takes days.”
Igloo has grown year on year accepting many delivery challenges others either cannot or will not handle. It has focused on achieving official certification. Recently it was awarded ISO9001 and British Retail Consortium (BRC) to add to its existing Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) accreditation.
New simple to use planning software now provides efficient delivery planning ensuring that fewer miles are driven thus minimising client costs and environmental effects. It gives clients an instant flow of information and online order tracking and all deliveries are completed with an electronic POD.
To further reduce miles driven, Igloo has opened a Leeds depot and is now planning to open its first Scottish base.
