Hermes, the consumer delivery specialist, has been applauded for its “commitment to innovation” following a special site visit from a cabinet minister. Matthew Hancock, Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, saw first hand the technology currently being utilised by the delivery firm during a tour of the company’s Newmarket depot.
Hancock, who is MP for West Suffolk, was able to trial a Hermes ‘Pay and Print In Store’ device and interact with a Starship self-driving delivery robot. He then received a sneak preview of new innovations currently being devised by the company, including possible uses of cutting edge technologies such as HoloLens and facial recognition technology.
He said: “I have been thoroughly impressed by Hermes’ commitment to innovation as a part of improving the delivery experience for online shoppers across the UK. I also look forward to seeing some of the exciting solutions currently in development soon becoming a reality.”
