Gregory Distribution Acquires Kay Transport

GDL (Holdings) Ltd, the parent company of Gregory Distribution Ltd, has purchased Kay Transport Ltd from its owners, Steve and Sheila Winzer.

Kay Transport is a West Country-based transport and distribution business with a turnover of around £10 million and employs 140 people at its base in Plymouth and other depots in Newton Abbot and Gloucester. It was founded in 1978 by Steve and his wife Sheila, and has developed over the last 30 years a strong reputation for service and reliability. The company will continue to trade under the same name in its familiar red livery.

Commenting on the sale, Steve Winzer said, “I see the sale to Gregory Distribution, a well respected and well-known Devon-based business, as a positive move for my business; being part of a larger organisation without losing its identity is good news for both customers and staff.”

John Gregory, the Chief Executive of Gregory Distribution, added, “The acquisition of Kay Transport is an opportunity for both companies to extend the range of the services provided. By working alongside our existing business, it will offer even more flexibility and resource to our customers.
