Great Bear appoints new CEO

Ambient 3PL specialist Great Bear Distribution has appointed Alastair Isbister as its new Chief Executive Officer.

In his new role Ibister will report directly to Culina Group CEO Thomas van Mourik.

Isbister joins Great Bear from DHL at a landmark period in the company’s growth, with the opening of the UK’s first tri-modal logistics facility - Port Salford - a showpiece 280,000 sq ft facility creating 280 jobs, and the on-going development of a vast 1,000,000 sq ft logistics complex at Markham Vale, Chesterfield which is expected to generate a further 800 new jobs.

“Growing the Great Bear business and continuing to always provide fantastic service to our customers is my goal,” said Isbister. “I am really looking forward to helping to take Great Bear Distribution to the next level. It is an exciting opportunity at a really interesting time in UK logistics.”

With nearly 30 years’ 3PL experience, Isbister brings significant knowledge and expertise. Over 10 years at TDG were followed by 16 at DHL, where his most recent post was as VP, Business Development & Account Management responsible for Consumer, Tradeteam, Ireland, and the Engineering & Manufacturing sectors.

“I am really looking forward to working with Alastair to take our Great Bear Business forward,” comments van Mourik. “It’s a fantastic period for our company; these are truly exciting times at Culina Group. I am absolutely confident that Alastair has the ideas, the charisma, and the energy to help us to take the group on to even greater heights.”
