Gousto and AO.com complete SHD Conference line-up

Gousto head of logistics Bobby Amirahmadi and AO.com future talent advisor Kerrie Salisbury have been confirmed as the final speakers for this month’s SHD Logistics Conference.

Both Bobby and Kerrie bring strong knowledge working within retail logistics, a sector SHD Logistics will concentrate on for the event held at the Library of Birmingham on Tuesday 30th October.

Bobby’s session, Food for thought: harnessing the power of our logistics networks, will look deeply into the entanglement of the logistics and food industries, and how they are benefiting consumers on every level. Combining this with the ever increasing demands for flexibility and quality, he will also investigate how leveraging and improving existing logistics networks has the potential to completely change the future of how we buy our food.

Bobby has been Head of Logistics at Gousto, the high-growth recipe kit provider, since 2016 with a remit to drive change and innovation in food delivery.

During this time, Bobby also had a spell heading up Customer Care, which shed huge light on the relationship between a successful logistics proposition and customer retention. Prior to Gousto, Bobby was the Fleet and Logistics Manager for another food start-up, Hubbub, which leveraged existing brick and mortar supply chains to disrupt the traditional supermarket proposition.

Bobby has worked in the food industry, specialising in Transport and Logistics since 2008, ranging from start-ups to large multi-national businesses such as Arla Foods, Brakes and Gist.

AO session

Kerrie currently works for AO Logistics, the logistics arm of online retailer ao.com, as their Future Talent Advisor.

AO Logistics' Kerrie Salisbury

Based at the business’ national distribution centre in Cheshire, Kerrie’s focus is on inspiring the next generation of logisticians and showcasing the opportunities available for a career in this industry at AO. Since 2016, Kerrie has developed AO’s future talent strategy by collaborating with local educational institutions, charities, governing bodies and on a national level with Think Logistics and Career Ready. She has a passion for raising aspirations in the local community and improving employability skills in young people.

Her session, entitled Retail logistics is transforming – how AO.com attracts the talent to match, will discuss the impact of ao.com’s rapid growth on their logistics operation, and how it has been a catalyst for change in attracting new talent and future-proofing the key skills in their industry.

As the landscape for retail and logistics evolves it has become more uncertain. The race to attract the best talent is more competitive than ever before, with businesses using more than just a competitive salary to entice the next generation of skilled employees. AO logistics will discuss their methods, and how they are leveraging their employer brand to appeal to the current job market.

Keynote

Both Bobby and Kerrie join John Lewis & Partners Head of Central Operations and Transport Ben Farrell, who will be keynote speaker for the event.Ben’s session will discuss how the omni-channel retail model will need reinvention, referring to the response of John Lewis and some other retailers, to the extraordinarily disrupted UK retail landscape.

Savills’ Kevin Mofid, FareShare’s Mark Varney and Nick Hay from Fowler Welch, and Cranfield University’s Prof. Alan Waller OBE will line up to speak at the event. CollectPlus CEO Prof. Neil Ashworth, along with UKWA CEO Peter Ward, Amirahmadi and moderator BearingPoint's Natasha Tyrrell, will feature as part of a panel covering the issue: Is logistics the new retail?

The SHD Logistics Autumn Conference 2018, will be held on Tuesday 30th October and will analyse the burgeoning retail logistics sector, dissect the brick and mortar store environment - and the implications this has on logistics - and the ascending e-commerce retail market.
