Gazeley has submitted plans for a 298,000 sq ft Daventry warehouse next to the Ford parts distribution centre at Royal Oak Industrial Estate. It was acquired by Gazeley in 2012.
A decision is not expected on the application until late this year.
The East Midlands logistics property scene has yet to see the scale of speculative development seen in some other regions. Lambert Smith Hampton’s says the first half of 2014 left virtually all big sheds in the East Midlands now either occupied or under offer.
The surveying firm said: “With the exception of a 165,000 sq ft speculative building known as Hinckley 165 on Hinckley Commercial Park (due for completion November 2014), there is no immediate promise of a return to speculative development although we do expect to see some, but generally on a smaller scale."
