An innovative express freight venture, launched by Rhenus Logistics UK last year, has now achieved national roll-out. The service, which utilises Rhenus’ daily departures and 24-hour loading provision, was introduced to meet customer demands for a streamlined express offering.
Launched in June 2016, the project commenced at the business’ Bradford terminal and was initially focused on operations across the North of England. Impressive take-up and growth has accelerated the roll-out and the express offering is now available from all 11 Rhenus sites in the UK.
Designed to meet the requirements of clients with particularly urgent needs, the service uses a combination of dedicated vehicles and the product range already offered by Rhenus’ road-freight services, providing clients with faster delivery times without the need for prohibitive costs.
Speaking of the scheme’s success, Gary Dodsworth, director and country manager of Rhenus UK, commented: “Since its launch in June of last year, our express offering has proven to be one of the most popular services provided by Rhenus. The innovative approach came about through Rhenus having a strong desire to find solutions, and meets our commitment to continue to evolve to the needs of our customers.
“A year on, I’m delighted to say that the team has successfully delivered an optimised express structure within the business, providing clients with a flexible, reliable and high quality product at an affordable cost.”
The roll-out of the scheme is the latest success story for Rhenus Logistics, which also recently announced the acquisition of Australian freight specialist O’Brien and a partnership with Canada’s ICECORP, significantly shoring up Rhenus’ service offering to the North American market.
