Euro Car Parts could grow its regional hub-and-spoke logistics network from 16 regional distribution centres to 25, as the business expands its retail network.
Senior sources at the company – which opened its 200th UK outlet this month – say the current network of 50,000 sq ft regional hubs will not be adequate if the business continues to grow.
The chain is believed to be considering another 100 stores in the next three or four years.
The regional hubs will be served from a new 778,000 sq ft national distribution centre at IM Properties’ Birch Coppice site, Tamworth. With the addition of a mezzanine floor the £80m facility will total more than 1m sq ft.
