Euro Car Parts is to take a 778,000 sq ft warehouse at Tamworth’s Birch Coppice business par in one of the largest pre-let deals of the year.
The pre-let deal with developer IM Properties comes ahead of the building’s completion due for January 2016.
Euro Car Parts has signed a 20-year lease.
The facility will stock over 150,000 different product lines and despatch over 200,000 items each night to the branch network. ECP currently occupies over 600,000 sq ft (including mezzanine floors) of warehousing on the same estate which will be retained and transformed into a specialist facility for collision, coatings and green parts.
Martin Gray, chief executive at Euro Car Parts, said: “Due to the scale of the unit that we were looking for, there were very few opportunities in the market that met our requirements.”
Situated at Dordon, close to junction 10 of the M42, the 400-acre Birch Coppice Business Park is the West Midlands’ largest rail-served development site. Occupiers include Ocado, Volkswagen Group, Bunzl, and Severn Trent.
Kevin Ashfield (pictured), Senior Development Director, IM Properties, said: “We have worked closely with Euro Car Parts for a number of months to design a bespoke National Distribution Centre that is designed around their sophisticated internal automation system.”
CBRE advised the landlord.
