Whyte & Mackay, the Scottish distiller, has bought a 130,000 sq ft former Asda warehouse in Grangemouth.
Acting on behalf of Asda Stores Limited, the Colliers International secured the sale of DC2 unit, West Mains Industrial Estate, one of two large warehouses that became vacant after the retailer took a new 500,000 sq ft distribution hub in Grangemouth in a deal with developer Bericote.
A second unit, the neighbouring DC1, totalling 250,000 sq ft, is now on the market.
Bryce Stewart, director of Industrial & Logistics at Colliers International, said: “This is one of the largest industrial transactions in East Central Scotland in 2016 and highlights the continued demand for industrial space in general. West Mains has excellent transport links and we anticipate that there will be a high level of interest in DC1, given the relative rarity of such a large and high quality site going on the market.”
