Following a successful trial with Green Gourmet, DHL Supply Chain has delivered its first ever traditional on board fish and chip supper exclusively for selected British Airways flights.
Working with food innovation specialists Green Gourmet, DHL Supply Chain spent more than two years honing the dish to solve the challenge of how to serve chips that taste great whilst maintaining their crispiness at altitude.
Both the fish fillet and chunky chips are covered in a secret recipe coating and seasoned prior to cooking to give passengers the delicious flavours, despite their taste buds being lessened by more than 30 per cent due to the altitude.
Sinead Ferguson, menu development manager at British Airways, said: “What better meal to see on board a summer flight than the traditional British fish supper? We know our customers love comfort food and expect it to be done well when they fly with us.
During trials our fish supper was met with resounding approval from our customers, and we are thrilled it's also been given the thumbs up by the 2014 Chippy of the Year.”
Lynne Waite, Head of Food, DHL Supply Chain commented: "Bringing this much loved dish to British Airways' short haul flights has been challenging and it was crucial that as catering logistics partner, DHL found the right supplier to work with.
DHL and Green Gourmet have worked closely for two years on this dish in order to give our customers the first ever on board fish and chips supper, which is already proving popular."
