Development totaling 208,000 sq ft to be built at Stone Cross

Warehouse development totaling 208,000 sq ft, are to be built at the Stone Cross M6 motorway site near Wigan.

Stoford Developments and Oxenwood Real Estate have announced plans to transform part of the former Carlsberg brewery site, Yew Tree Way, Golborne following the acquisition of the building in November.

They have submitted two separate full planning applications to Wigan Borough Council for a 72,500 sq ft new unit, along with an extension to create a 136,000 sq ft unit from existing space.

The former Carlsberg depot has remained vacant since being closed in February 2018, after 20 years in operation.

Tony Nash, Director, Stoford Developments, said: “Stone Cross is a prime logistics location with a lack of supply of good quality and much-needed employment accommodation. The site is well established, already housing an enviable line up of well-respected tenants.

The 65-acre Stone Cross Park site’s local occupiers  include Ansell Lighting, Righton, Cold Move, Alpla and Gefco. The site is two miles from Junction 23 of the M6, with the M58 to the north, the M62 to the south and the M60 to the east.

Letting agents areGerald Eve, M1 Agency and DTRE.
