Planners will decide next week whether to approval proposals for around 7.5m sq ft of new floorspace at Lutterworth’s Magna Park.
The two separate proposals come from DB Symmetry, who are applying for 3m sq ft on the Glebe Farm site, and IDI Gazeley who are seeking permission to build 4.5m sq ft at Mere Lane, Bittesby. The Gazeley application also includes a 140 space HGV parking facility, associated gatehouse and HGV Driver Training Centre, vehicle wash and fuelling.
The 214 acre Symmetry Park site is currently farm land to the south of the A4303 and east of the A5. The A4303 provides links to the M1 junction 20 and the A5 provides linkages northbound to the M69 junction 1 and southbound (via the A426) to junction 1 of the M6. Units of up to 1.3m sq ft are likely.
The IDI Gazeley site is 574 acres next to the A5 and envisages units up to 1.75m sq ft – large even by the standards of the Golden Triangle.
Both are next to the existing 500-acre Magna Park site and have been awaiting a decision for years: the Gazeley application was submitted in October 2015, whilst DB Symmetry’s dates from June 2015.
Harborough District Council’s planning committee will make its decision on 23rd November.
